Wild Child: Live Review
By Aniruddh "Andrew" Bansal
They have been doing this for the past so many years now that they have everything down perfect, the music as well as the costumes, the Jim Morrison mannerisms and the instruments. Dave Brock is so scarily similar to Morrison in every way possible, that you have to see it to believe it. I myself had such a trippy experience at this particular show. I closed my eyes for a second and it completely felt as if The Doors themselves were on stage at that time. The band did make the crowd wait quite a lot, the venue letting people in starting 7.30 and the band hitting the stage no earlier than 9.30. They also took a 20-25 minute break in between sets. But in the end I would say it was surely worth the wait. Another thing they do well is space out their shows at a particular venue. The last time they played here was on September 11th 2009, so this was after more than a four month gap, ensuring a capacity crowd. The Doors and the Whisky-A-Go-Go have a special relationship that goes quite a long way back, and the tradition is being very ably continued by Wild Child. If you are a Doors fan and haven't seen this band yet, its your duty to do so at the next available opportunity.
