CypherSeer is a band that is very accessible for those metal fans that just came onto the scene and want something accessible to listen to. Falling in along the same lines as In Flames and Killswitch Engage, "Origins" is something that I call ear candy. If you want a casual album that you can just kickback and listen to then this one is for you. Don't get me wrong, CypherSeer is not bad at all. Zeno Rodrigo is very talented in the vocal department and can be very aggressive at moments while keeping that traditional power melody.

Guitarists Sergio Ribeiro and Rod Mariani are as equally as talented as well as bassist Kristian Lolo (although it was hard to tell as the bass was hardly present on any of the tracks) and drummer Lee Corrado but there is not a whole lot on here that made me want to stand up and pay attention.

Every track on here is at full speed, which I fully appreciate, but at the same time there is nothing to break it up, each track just kind of bleeds into the other, the same curse that plagues bands such as Dragonforce except their songs are about ten minutes longer. The instrumental "Infinite Trance" and "Lost, Plagued and Redefined" were the exception, lending a little more atmosphere with the keyboards and mellow guitar. Even when it entered into more brutal territory it stayed at a nice rhythmic pace. I would have liked to hear a few more like these. "Origins" is a decent album out by a group of guys who continue to show promise; I'm just hoping they put out something that's a little more compelling in the future.
