VALET PARN: Riddle Figure (Album Review)
By Kate Wilcox
Release Date: January 31st, 2011 Review Date: April 16th, 2011 Label: Soundforge Music My rating:
The opener "Fabel" starts out with atmospheric keyboards and guitar before they tear right through with the second track "Morpheus" as Steve Venardo's vocals comes across with clarity and power. "Dark Room" carries compelling guitar riffs supplied by George Emmanuel and Jimmy Haursen that border on the progressive side of metal. "Fear the Bullet" lets the brutality fly while still keeping melodic rhythm in balance. Venardo's vocals are a force to be reckoned with as the chugging riffs hold a hypnotic pattern. "Blindfall" is a dynamic track that breaks up the aggression and gives some stellar musicianship between the guitars and drums. The album closes out with the commanding piece "Valentine's Night" that is full of aggressiveness and shows off the band's skill once again. It's a refreshing change to see bands like this raising the bar and delivering something more than just your standard metal. "Riddle Figure" is a solid album that deserves the attention and support it's been getting over the past few months. Looking forward to seeing what else Valet Parn will deliver for us in the years to come! Tweet | ||||||||||||||
