BHAYANAK MAUT: Metastasis (EP Review)
By Mikhail Madnani
Release Date: October 20th, 2010 Record Label: Self-released My rating points:
Indian Hardcore Metal band, Bhayanak Maut released their latest EP entitled Metastasis on the 20th of October. The band released the EP for free download. This is the first release by the band since their last album (Untitled, 2009) which was received well among critics and fans alike. The EP was recorded with 2 drummers. Rahul did the drums for the first track and Jai Row Kavi did the drums for the other two songs. The EP starts off with the song, 'Chakna For Church' which is a short in your face metal song. The thundering drums and dual vocals by Sunneith and Vinay never disappoint with this band. The guitars are typical Bhayanak Maut (very heavy chunky riffs). Vinit's bass complements the drums and guitar nicely while the vocals grab you by the throat and never let go from the first lyric. My only complaint here is the absence of a guitar solo that would have fit perfectly. The next song is 'Dear'. This is a very Soilwork influenced song. It reminds me of Soilwork's new album, The Panic Broadcast in many places. The riffs in this song are better than the previous song and this song is my favourite song on the EP. Jai's drum skills really shine on this song. Venkat and Aditya form one of India's best guitar duos. This is THE song to see them play live. It will absolutely slay live. The last song on this album is 'Confucius' and is the longest song on the EP. Bhayanak Maut has never been about very long and progressive songs. Their songs always go from zero to a hundred in a few seconds and stay that way till the song is over. This song is pumped with energy and has some more complex riffs. The break towards the end is amazing. The sad part about this EP is the ending of the last song is absolutely phenomenal and has some of the best guitar riffs that I have heard in some time. I think the band has accomplished what they set out to do with this EP. I really wish there were more songs but then again, this is an EP and not an LP. Tweet | ||||||||||||||
